FAU Tech Runway: Graduation for Startups

Where does the time go? Last October, PowerCalc competed for one of four spots in FAU Tech Runway’s incubator program…its 3rd class. A great thing happened…we were one of the winning startups.

Winning meant many things: a $25,000 cash award, office space in a renovated airport hanger with other companies, committed mentors from all fields, classes in business and social marketing as well as time to make things happen.

And then, all too soon, on November 9, 2016, graduation was here.

The work has been hard, but rewarding: massive re-coding project for the cloud, preparing business plans, financial projections, technical project plans, marketing plans, pricing studies and more.

Start Free Trial! But most importantly, PowerCalc completed its migration to the cloud to become the first SaaS based electrical engineering software for the design of power distribution systems in buildings. That’s what you, our electrical professional colleagues, wanted and that’s what FAU Tech Runway helped us achieve. The technical challenge: a mere 7 million+ engineering equations re-coded and all on a cloud platform.

We’ve kept you informed about this startup rite-of-passage throughout the year, but take this special moment to recognize and thank Florida Atlantic University for its incredible program and commitment to startups and especially to PowerCalc.

We are proud to be part of this talented family of business and thought leaders who are leading business development for startups in South Florida and across the country.

So, here are a few of the photo highlights. Also, click here for our CEO’s graduation day speech.
