What is PowerCalc?

PowerCalc is the 1st SaaS product that automates electrical engineering calculations to design the power distribution system in a building or buildings.

What does PowerCalc design?

PowerCalc designs the power distribution system in a building or buildings…everything from the light switch (branch circuit) to the power grid (electrical service entrance).

What kind of facilities can I design using PowerCalc?

PowerCalc can be used to design any type of building or group of buildings such as a college campus or industrial complex that have a single electrical energy source. There is no limit on the potential variations to design a power distribution system.

What electrical values does PowerCalc generate?

With just 3 inputs (load kVA, load type and # of poles) per circuit, PowerCalc generates over 300 NEC and other code compliant outputs. watch “What is PowerCalc?” and “How to PowerCalc

How can I update/change my design with PowerCalc?

Simply go to the circuit which must be changed, input new values and the electrical engineering design is automatically and instantly updated across the design of the power distribution system.

How does PowerCalc work?

With just 3 inputs (load kVA, load type and # of poles) per circuit, PowerCalc generates over 300 NEC and other code compliant outputs. PowerCalc has over 7 million electrical engineering equations bundled into one integrated calculation. All done on the standard panel formats used by electrical engineers. watch “What is PowerCalc?” and “How to PowerCalc

How do I access PowerCalc?

Simply go to the PowerCalc website or your subdomain address and input your user name and password. Access is available from any device that is connected to the internet. watch “How to PowerCalc

How do I start a project with PowerCalc?

Log into your account or enterprise account for a business, go to your Project List and click on the New Project Tab and input the information required on the form such as client name, etc. watch “How to PowerCalc

How large of a project can I design with PowerCalc?

PowerCalc offers three package sizes, so the answer depends on the size of the package you purchase. But, if you need more design capability, you can always upgrade to a larger package. Also, PowerCalc can be customer configured to provide design capacity for an unlimited number of circuits so just call us.

What panels and other forms comprise PowerCalc?

All panels are automatically and simultaneously generated. They include: the branch circuit panel(s), the distribution panel(s), the main distribution panel, the equipment schedules and the eNODE™. For PRO and PRO Plus, the fault analysis and Equipment AIC Rating app is also included. For the PRO Plus the graphic automatic 1-Line Diagram will be available in early 2017. The 1Line Diagram is also automatically generated and available for viewing throughout the design process.

Is internet access required to use PowerCalc?

Yes, PowerCalc is in the cloud so internet access is required to install and activate all PowerCalc programs and to manage your subscription account.

What is the cloud?

“The cloud" is a friendly way of describing web-based computing services that are hosted outside of your organization. When you use cloud-based services, your IT infrastructure resides off your property (off-premises), and is maintained by a third party (hosted), instead of residing on a server at your home or business (on-premises) that you maintain. With PowerCalc, for example, information storage, computation, and software are located and managed remotely on servers owned by Amazon. Many services you use every day are a part of the cloud—everything from web-based email to mobile banking and online photo storage. Because this infrastructure is located online or “in the cloud,” you can access it virtually anywhere, from a PC, tablet, smartphone, or other device with an internet connection.

How many users does PowerCalc support?

PowerCalc is highly scalable and can support everything from a one-person business to companies with thousands of users. It can also support users from a single work location or from multiple work locations.

What mobile apps are available for PowerCalc?

You can access PowerCalc’s website, your account and your Project List.

What do I need to install when I sign up for PowerCalc?

Nothing, all you need is internet access through a browser: Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome.

What forms of payment can I use?

You can use a credit card to purchase PowerCalc: Visa, American Express, or Mastercard.

What is the free 30 day trial?

PowerCalc offers a free 30 day free trial for each enterprise or user who subscribes for the first time to PowerCalc. This offer does not apply to users who sign up through an enterprise that’s already enrolled or to returning users.

What’s the difference between monthly and annual pre-paid subscriptions?

All subscriptions are annual: (1) payment can be on a monthly basis or (2) annually with payment in advance (PowerCalc provides a discount for pre-paid subscriptions).

What’s the differences between the packages?

PowerCalc has 3 packages: CORE, PRO and PRO Plus. The distinction between them is based on the number of electrical busses and also additional apps. The PRO and PRO Plus package include the Fault Analysis and Equipment AIC Rating apps. When published, the PRO Plus will also include PowerCalc’s one line/automatic and graphic 1Line Diagram.

What is the Single Use Project?

The single use project is the package for the user who has a limited number of projects. These projects are also smaller in size with 1 electrical bus. It can only be used one time although the information can be updated throughout the design for the project.
